Internship Opportunity: BFM Afterschool Internship 2026
A 6 to 12 month paid internship at Bridges Academy in Langa for 2026, giving alumni the chance to work with children and lead creative sessions in music, dance, and mindfulness.


π About the Afterschool Program
The Bridges Academy Afterschool Program provides a safe space for young people aged 10 to 17 from the community of Langa to flourish while developing their skills in piano, singing, marimba, and dance.
As a Bridges for Music alumnus, you have the opportunity to intern with us during 2026, contributing to this vibrant, youth-centered program for a duration of 6 to 12 months.
The Afterschool Program is intentionally alumni led for two main reasons:
To provide children with community role models who reflect our values of mindfulness, community, and ubuntu.
To give alumni meaningful chances to grow as leaders, build skills, and give back through creative education.
This is the perfect opportunity for someone who enjoys working with children and wants to explore a career in education, youth development, or community work. Full training and mentorship will be provided.
π Internship Details
Location: Bridges for Music Academy, Langa (Cape Town)
Days: Monday to Friday, 12:00 PM to 5:30 PM
Stipend: R400 per session
Duration: 6 to 12 months (starting in early 2026)
πΆ Key Responsibilities
As an Afterschool Intern, you will:
Serve as a caring and nurturing presence in the lives of children enrolled in the Afterschool Creative Club.
Maintain accurate attendance records by completing the register daily.
Plan and deliver engaging creative activities in music, art, or movement.
Assist with lunch preparation, ensuring all children have eaten and that any dietary needs are met.
Support music and dance teachers before and after classes.
Help tidy and organise classrooms and creative spaces after sessions.
Participate in daily check-outs with the children and team.
